This past week was a nice little slice of reality after spending my birthday weekend on a secret island get away. After many years in the making this is the first time I actually took the time to plan something nice in order to celebrate the once a year event. The fun times have come to an end and its back to work for this old guy. I’ll see if I can gather more photos that documented the different events through the past few days.

Cheers,
-K

Meet Jon Connor. He’s not a fictional terminator character but he is robotic in his precision and is quickly holding true to his pivotal name by navigating through the music scene storyline with every cut he makes. I’m proud to share a little insight into my old classmate who has just begun to make his mark.

Commonly titled “The People’s Rapper”, Jon is the third generation of a musically talented family. His robotic tool kit is pillared with writing, producing and performing. I was first introduced to Jon awhile back when we were both in high school. I would hear through the hallways about this guy who could freestyle better than anyone else around (insert dramatic high school chatter) . Much more than a clever cafeteria line he produced, he wrote and he didn’t wait before he was done with school to start his own label titled “Avie Squad” to see just how far his music could go. Fast forward a couple years later, I was online looking through new music and I saw a post on a new rapper front Flint, MI called Jon Connor. I’ve been following Jon’s progression through the years but to hear about his music indirectly from the west coast was huge. Jon’s music was taking root, growing far beyond the Midwest and people all over were quickly taking note.
With an immense sense of pride for an old friend I kept in touch with Jon on his continued progress and lined up some time while I was back home for the holiday to meet up. On his path to the present, I sat down with Jon to follow up on where he’s been, what he’s up to and where he’s going.
After high school Jon was allured by opportunities of a music driven education, industry contacts and warmer weather so he took his music south to Florida. Balancing life away from the mitten he would take the bus all the way from Michigan to Florida and hand out his music to anyone he could along the way. After soaking up the southern scene Jon later decided to pull back and take his career home to his roots so he could continue to perform in front of his hometown favorites.
About a year ago I sent Jon a few shirts and gave him an introduction into The Syndicate. From running the company from one end of the country to the other Jon and I related a lot on how to keep up a project your passionate about. Jon’s love and hard work ethic is a prime example of why William and I created The Syndicate to try to spotlight any Midwest success we come by. When it comes down to it Jon has the classic traits of someone who is hungry enough to want it more than the next person in line. And that’s just it, Jon is on a steamroll path to let everyone beyond the walls of Michigan know where he’s from and what he’s all about.
Far beyond freestyles Jon is actually well on his way into his music career with a handful of titles already under his belt:
THE CALLING PT. 1 – 2005 & EVERYBODY HATES CONNOR – 2006
THE CALLING PT. 2: THE SECOND COMING – 2008 & JON CONNOR AS VINNIE CHASE: SEASON ONE – 2010
Talented and grateful to have the opportunity is how I would describe Jon Connor. Until you get the chance to witness Jon in person for now you can follow his progression through his online website at JonConnorOnline.
SALUTE.

I spent the last 2 weeks back home in the Midwest catching up on my old ties over the holiday season. Old, new, related and might as well be related people filled my daily calendar with good solid times for all. On one accord the annual trip is bittersweet seeing people you used to see everyday and on the other hand its pretty rad how you can pick back up with old friends like you never missed a beat. Good people find good people and great people keep in touch.
Lately I’ve been caught somewhere in between 2010 and 2011 so there is a stack of new items to update you all on very soon. If you know me well, you know I would rather wait to give my recent stories and adventures the detail they deserve instead of posting a bunch of holiday nonsense that leaves you all confused and hungry for more.
For now I’ll leave you with a few photos I took from my phone while I was in transit.

Talk soon,
-K

Off to continue the travel cheer with my first of many Michigan Holiday events.
Ti’s the season,

“I’ve got the hunger of a B-I-G that ain’t even signed yet”

If you haven’t heard of him yet then I’ll put money (or THSYN product) on the table that you’ll hear about him through the vine soon enough. I’ll give you all more info on who Jon Connor is soon, for now I recommend you go listen to his music and see if you can spot him in this video where he was showcased as one of the up and coming artist to watch in the “Generation Next” concert hosted in Brooklyn, NY by HOT97.
Off to Detroit,

As mentioned my friend James is a man of many faces. Based on the following photos I think you can learn to realize how pivotal your look and the attitude that comes with it are when dealing with the day to day grind.

Stay focused, give yourself some time to relax and finally maintain a good attitude throughout and things will work out as they should.
Cheers,
K
