To celebrate the Halloween season and The Syndicate Pumpkin Carving Contest William joined his brother, my sister and a few other Grand Valley friends in Grand Rapids for a carving party.
As mentioned William and I went head to head with our pumpkin carving skills. William had a home court advantage but California’s pumpkin supply put up a good fight. I literally walked a few blocks away to find this gem at my local super market. We went back and forth a few times trying to decide who was the victor, then we agreed that it was a cross country tie with equal efforts and that in itself was a feat.
Lauren gets my vote!
Mike and Johnny went for the “S” logo. Speaking of, looks like Johnny got that new Solo pre-order hook up. Tomorrow is the last day to enter the contest before we vote, so don’t miss the chance to win a free shirt!
Good Luck!

We’ve been super busy lately, working on all kinds of new things.
For now, at the top of the list is our next design called SOLO from our CIVIL SUIT line. Pre-orders will be available soon so keep an eye on your email.
Speaking of the new, we’re working with some new friends on a special product that will land in a few weeks. We’re really excited to show everyone whats to come, but for now this the only clue I can give.
Also the pumpkin contest ends Thursday. Thanks to all the people who have sent a photo entry so far, choosing just one winner won’t be easy.
T-2 days,
-K!

This past weekend I turned a Saturday business meeting into a jam packed, sight seeing, weekend tour of Philadelphia with one of my best friends Shayna, who lives in Providence, RI. She drove 5 hours to see me! Thanks Shayna! During my quick visit she helped me stay on track while sight seeing, since we had a lot to do in a such a short time. Some of my favorite attractions where the popular hot spots like Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Philadelphia City Hall and so on.
We also went off the beaten path to a local favorite, Jim’s Steaks, which has been serving Philly Cheesesteaks since 1937. We had to wait in line for 20 minutes but it was well worth it!
I had to take a picture of the US Constitution Museum. After all this document did inspire our first shirt, DECLARE.
We cut through one of the many parks in the city and found a group of college students giving “free hugs.” I was a little skeptical, so I made Shayna hug these guys first.
It turns out that they really just wanted to give free hugs, apparently it was national hug day!? Philadelphia really is “The City of Brotherly Love.”
Go Phillies!

This past week San Francisco celebrated “Fleet Week”. The event has saluted Americans serving in the Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard since 1981. During the work day the planes flew right over downtown to let everyone know who was in the neighborhood, rattle a few windows on the high-story buildings and prepare for the air show that weekend.
I was thrilled to experience the air show this close, literally from my own backyard.
Growing up, I remember going to Blue Angels air shows when I was little. This was a great weekend to re-live that childhood desire to fly and go as fast as hell doing it.
After the show Lee and I rode over to catch some eats before the day was over.
A huge bowl of rice, seaweed salad, ginger, guacamole and grilled salmon. A great way to end the day indeed.

Meet Pete. Pete is a long time friend of ours from our college days at Western Michigan.
All of those extra hours of studying back then are paying off and now Big Pete is killing it at his new job. So much, that it has already taken him to Japan where he put his new Japanese speaking skills to the test. Pete told me he thoroughly enjoyed his trip esp. when he had some free time to check out the scene and sport his new DECLARE shirt from our Sin+Di KIT line.
Thanks for the photo Big Pete!

With Halloween being right around the corner William and I were talking about our pumpkin carving skills, who had better ideas and could get the best looking pumpkin. Well, I’m not sure how the pumpkin selection is out here in San Francisco but I know William has a sick advantage being back in the Mitten surrounded by orchards. So its on, our first annual “The Syndicate Pumpkin Carving Contest”, best pumpkin and design win.
If anyone out there wants to join in send photos of your lit-up pumpkin to unite@wethesyndicate.com.
Good luck!

Mike, my good friend from college, just bought a house on my street. This morning I walked down to his new house where he gave me a tour. Unfortunately the realtor hadn’t hung the sold sign yet, so.. we decided to add one in for him. Welcome neighbor!
My days of living on a quiet street are over,
