William and I wanted to give you all some insight on the background of our “S” logo which appears on our latest SOLO design. It’s hard to imagine we started organizing our thoughts for The Syndicate over a year ago. We thought of numerous names, colors and themes trying to define what we thought would best describe our motive. Paired with all of the names were various logos and branding ideas, which may appear on products in the future. Once we decided on The Syndicate, I created the “S” below (CIVIL SUIT tag mock-up makes a cameo).
Once the logo went digital I aligned the strokes to an angled grid so the shapes were clean and uniform.
The logo and brand were official when we received our custom interior labels with the “S” logo woven into them. The image below is a screen shot of us going through the very first cross-country approval process via web cam. “Thumbs Up!”
Now to bring the behind the scene perspective full circle, here is a leak of our next collaborative product.
Tyler of MA has been a huge creative ally while we both continue to build up our brands. This upcoming collab. is a testament to the motivation of two Michigan start-ups coming together and making killer limited edition products.

I was able to organize this shoot and connect some friends of mine in Kalamazoo right before Halloween. Tyler and Matt from Miles Avenue Longboards met up with my friends Marina and Ingrid for the shoot in Kalamazoo, MI. Below is a photo taken at Grant Park in Chicago from The Huffington Post. Three of my good friends from high school Tim (behind Dave), Dave (both fists in the air) and Mallory (clapping in the lower right) are shown front and center with their reactions to the victory announcement.
Not only was this photo in the Huffington Post but it was also shown on the Oprah Show when singer will.i.am debuted his new song “It’s a new day”. The photo appears for a quick second at the 1:06 mark, click here to check it out.
All in all I think its pretty cool how art, media (bad/good) and even the friends you went to high school with are participating to be a part of our political process.

I woke up this morning to this huge piece of construction equipment outside my house, crazy huh? The city is repaving the street next to mine and in preparation for the big event they parked this road grader in my usual parking spot. The Syndicate website has also been under construction lately so continue to check back for new updates and upgrades.

People have different views on politics, especially when it comes to this landmark election. Whatever the outcome, I hope and pray we remain “The United States”. United behind the idea that no matter what your origin, color or religion, everyone preserves the American belief in true freedom. Freedom to do, say, be, live, win, lose, choose and so on.
Use your freedom to create.

Congratulations to Bonais from Los Angeles,CA. Out of all the entries, her carving of three wolves howling at the moon was the best! Thank you to everyone who participated and sent us your pumpkin photos.
In other news Batman and Robin we’re spotted stealing candy from little kids. Apparently the pair thought the large pillows were full of doggie treats.
