This past week was the beginning of the Chinese New Year. 2009 is the year of the Ox, which is thought to be the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. To celebrate this event it’s tradition to receive a red letter gift.

There are a lot of good food choices here in SF but to stay true to the theme we decided to spend lunch at this new dumpling house downtown.

If you ever get the chance to visit one I highly recommend the red bean dumpling for dessert.

Happy New Year,

The students at Bradley University were nice enough to invite me to speak at their campus this past Saturday so I made the 7 hour trip across the mitten to the great state of Illinois. At first I was a little apprehensive as I wasn’t really sure how many students would turn out on a weekend. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the large group of attentive students which was much appreciated after the blizzard I drove through.

We had a wonderful conversation about the economy, job market and business in general. I met some really great people and learned a lot in the process.

Thanks Bradley!

I would post this video within the blog but its crucial to watch this bad boy in full screen mode. And you know the military is already using this to drop in on your local block party.

I went over to Oakland last weekend to watch LeBron throw up a last min. buzzer beater shot to win the game against the Warriors.

Rather than repeat what espn considers highlights from the game I figured I would post an alternative reel.

My friend Nora sent over these photos of her experience at the Inauguration of President Obama. Despite the cold weather I’m sure it was a pretty exciting event to witness in person.

William and I have a lot of different views. I think The Syndicate and the product we share with you all is evidence of our joint effort and contrasting opinions, which we hope you all enjoy.

On that note in our recent cross country / daily call we we’re having some discussion about this years auto show in Detroit. Considering recent headlines, economy and movements toward “green” transportation the conversation was pretty diverse. All auto shows and the Detroit one in particular lay the ground work of imagination for what lies ahead. Personally I think a lot of the future is affected by what the designers are thinking about 6- 10 years in advance, where the auto industry in particular has always been a key player.

William chose his home town picks to be the 2010 Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang Shelby GT50 and the Cadillac CTS coupe.

As for my picks, well to be honest I wasn’t highly impressed with the looks of the show but definitely inspired by all the ruckus of green technology and the challenges involved. Although this Cadillac concept wasn’t at the show I found it pretty visually interesting and thought I would share.

Roll out,

Lately it’s been unseasonably warm in San Francisco, so I decided to get my bike out and cruise to work the other day. On the way home I was on a downhill about to take a turn and I started to hear this “tick, tick, tick” noise behind me. At first I thought I broke a cable and it was hitting my spokes so I pulled over in the dark and tried to figure out what the deal was. I rolled my bike back and my tired revealed a giant, industrial sized staple standing perfectly in the middle of my tire. Busted. Lucky enough I was close to a friends house and now my tire is just one more thing to add to the list.

Speaking of the list how is everyone doing with that list of NYE resolutions?
